The LAPD, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department and nearly 100 other local police agencies know this. So while you're enjoying the holiday weekend, they'll be working overtime looking to bust drunk drivers.
They've been kind enough to give us some info about where they'll be and, in some cases, exactly when they'll be there. Study this cheat sheet. Print it out. Take it with you:
–Tonight from 6 p.m. to midnight there will be an LAPD DUI checkpoint at Florence Avenue and Main Street in South L.A.
–Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. there will be a checkpoint waiting for you at Roscoe Boulevard and Gloria Avenue in North Hills.
–Tonight from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Pasadena police will have a checkpoint running somewhere in that city (they're not saying exactly where).
-Additionally, the Sheriff's Department lists the following Friday night checkpoints and drunk-driver patrols, without specific times and places:

–Saturday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. there will be an LAPD checkpoint at Topanga Boulevard and Devonshire Street in Chatsworth.
–Saturday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. there will be a checkpoint for you hipsters at Sunset Boulevard and Fountain Avenue in Silver Lake.
–Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. there will be a checkpoint on Olympic Boulevard at Lake Street in the Westlake District.
-Saturday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. there will be a DUI “saturation patrol” in the LAPD's 77th Street Division area of South L.A.
