It's the month of love.

But getting a DUI will ruin the mood. They cost nearly $16,000 in fines, towing, court costs and legal fees, the AAA of Southern California says. You won't have much left over for that overpriced, prix fixe meal Feb. 14.

So here's your warning, kids: Local cops are going to do their best to cool off your February with a series of checkpoints and patrols this weekend. Locations include party hot spot Hollywood and hipster haven Silver Lake. And we have the deets:

Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. the LAPD will have a checkpoint operating on Hyperion Avenue at Scotland Street in Silver Lake.

Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. the department will be manning a checkpoint on Highland Avenue at DeLongpre Avenue in Hollywood.

Tonight from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. the L.A. County Sheriff's Department will have a DUI checkpoint set up somewhere in the city of Lancaster (they're not saying exactly where).

Tonight from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sheriff's deputies will also have a checkpoint on the streets of Palmdale (they're not saying exactly where).

Saturday a checkpoint will be waiting for you from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Manchester Avenue at Figueroa Street in South L.A.

Saturday from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sheriff's deputies will be operating a checkpoint somewhere in the city of Norwalk (they're not saying exactly where).

Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. the LAPD will have extra cops on the streets as part of what the department calls a “saturation patrol.” They'll be looking for drunk drivers in the 77th Street Division area of South L.A.

Sunday another saturation patrol will be expecting you in the LAPD's Devonshire Division area of the San Fernando Valley (map).
