We're all for getting stupid in the name of 'Merica this Fourth of July weekend. Just don't hurt anybody.

The California Highway Patrol, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, the Los Angeles Police Department and other area law enforcers are getting ready for a three-day DUI crackdown. The CHP's holiday weekend maximum-enforcement period starts at 6:01 p.m. today and ends at 11:59 p.m. Monday.

During the same time last year, 26 people were killed on California roads and 930 DUI arrests were made by the CHP alone, according to an agency statement. The sheriff's department reports that nearly 40 percent of traffic fatalities in recent years involved a drunk driver.

“Don’t even think about drinking and driving this Fourth of July,” Sheriff's Sgt. Robert Hill says. “We will be actively looking for you.”

Information on specific DUI checkpoints and patrols will be posted at the bottom when we get them. In the meantime, consider using Uber or Lyft.

Uber announced this week that it will donate $1 to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for every ride taken in L.A. County over the holiday weekend.

“Uber will also place its innovative breathalyzer kiosk in select bars across the Westside of Los Angeles for the Fourth of July weekend,” according to a company statement. Uber “will offer discounted ride codes to riders who give the breathalyzer a try.”

The Auto Club of Southern California, which estimates that a first-time DUI arrest will cost you nearly $16,000, says its Tipsy Tow Fourth of July service will be available for the 20th year. The “last resort” service, available from 6 p.m. Monday through 6 a.m. Tuesday, allows you to get a tow and a ride to your home. Call 800-400-4AAA. 

“Drivers should be aware that the California Highway Patrol and law enforcement agencies are likely using sobriety checkpoints and extra patrols to look for drinking drivers during the holiday,” says Anita Lorz Villagrana, the Auto Club’s community programs and traffic safety manager.

Indeed.

UPDATE at 2 :08 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2016: Here's the LAPD's list of checkpoints and DUI “saturation patrols.”

-Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. a checkpoint will be waiting for you on Fairfax Avenue and Maryland Drive in the Fairfax District just north of the Miracle Mile.

-Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. a checkpoint will be running at Manchester and Denver Avenues in South L.A.

-Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. a checkpoint will be awaiting your arrival at Valley Boulevard and Mariondale Avenue near Lincoln Heights.

-Today from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. a DUI saturation patrol — which puts extra cops on the streets — will hit the LAPD's 77th Street Division area of South L.A.

-Saturday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. a checkpoint will be happening at Van Nuys Boulevard and Remick Avenue in Pacoima.

-Saturday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. cops will be running a checkpoint at Van Nuys Boulevard and Roscoe Boulevard in Panorama City.

–Saturday from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. a saturation patrol will hit the department's Central Bureau, which includes downtown and areas just east, west and south of downtown.

-Sunday from 6 p.m. to midnight a checkpoint will be happening on Western Avenue and 39th Street in South L.A.

-Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. a saturation patrol will put extra cops on the streets of the LAPD's Newton Division, which includes the south end of downtown and parts of South L.A.

-Sunday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. a saturation patrol will strike in the Van Nuys area.
