Another week another tale of (allegedly) drunk parents with kids who end up in a car crash.

This time, at least, said inebriated parental units tried to do the right thing: They got sloshed and reached out for a ride from a van-driving friend … who was also drunk, authorities said.

That in turn, led to a 12:30 a.m. accident today on Van Nuys Boulevard just north of Valerio Street in Van Nuys in which …

… three kids were, luckily, not seriously hurt, cops alleged.

But that didn't prevent officers from turning them over to the Department of Children and Family Services. The little ones were not in child safety seats and were not wearing seatbelts, police alleged.

In fact, a 4-month-old was in a foot-washing tub in the van, Officer R. Shaffer of the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division told City News Service. A 2-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl suffered bumps and bruises.

The parents, who suffered minor injuries, have not been arrested or cited, but they could be, cops said.

The driver of the van was arrested on suspicion of DUI, and so was the driver of a Mustang he collided with.

The moral of this story? Don't put your children's lives in the hands of people who drive vans. (That should be obvious).
