A drunk man took a golf cart from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena last night and went for a freeway cruise, the California Highway Patrol says.

The suspect, 20-year-old Andrew Joseph Aldridge of Dana Point, was released this morning, according L.A. Sheriff's Department inmate data. He was originally arrested at 10:47 p.m. last night and jailed in lieu of $5,000, according to sheriff's information.

CHP Sgt. Michael Munoz told us that dispatchers received numerous 911 calls about a golf cart cruising on the shoulder of the 210 freeway near Lake Avenue in Pasadena sometime after 10 p.m.

“We kept getting 911 calls,” he said.

CHP units caught up with the cart after it exited at Hill Avenue, Munoz said. The suspect was the “sole occupant,” and he displayed “symptoms of possible alcohol intoxication,” the sergeant said.

Aldridge was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and the CHP took temporary possession of the cart until its rightful owner could pick it up, CHP officials said.

The golf cart has Rose Bowl markings, Munoz said, but authorities were so far unable to get in touch with Rose Bowl officials.

Might Aldridge get hit with a suspicion of theft allegation, too? “That's still under investigation,” the sergeant said.
