Some critics have pointed out that LAPD DUI checkpoints are few and far between on the Westside. They've even argued that the department targets immigrant-filled neighborhoods where license-free drivers will automatically get their cars, later sold by the city and tow yard for cash, impounded. (Illegals can't get drivers licenses in California).

Well, for the first time in a long time we've got a far-Westside drunk driver / unlicensed checkpoint from the department.

Look out, yuppies:

-Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. the LAPD will be set up on Washington Boulevard between Lincoln and Abbott Kinney Boulevards in Venice.

But wait, there's more:

-They'll be out from 7:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. on Highland Avenue at DeLongpre Street in Hollywood, too.

-Ah, but they wouldn't forget the easy pickin's in the hood now would they? A checkpoint is happening from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. on westbound Imperial Hwy between Main and San Pedro streets in Watts.

Then, on Saturday, it's hipster time:

-From 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. a checkpoint will be happening on Sunset Boulevard between Maltman Avenue and Silver Lake Boulevard in Silver Lake.
