Looks like you'll be able to get fresh needles, no questions asked, at your local pharmacy soon. Good news, right Courtney? (We kid).

The pro-marijuana Drug Policy Alliance is happy that Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law SB41, which will allow you to get your favorite drug-delivery device with a prescription. A little-used over-the-counter syringe program will be spread statewide for your injection needs.

The DPA stated this week:

When this bill goes into effect, people will be able to go to a pharmacy and take control of protecting themselves against disease from injection drug use.

The organization called it a life-saving law that will prevent HIV and hepatitis.

Laura Thomas, DPA”s California deputy director:

Now all Californians will have the same access to proven, effective HIV and hepatitis C prevention. This gives drug users the tools that they need to protect their health and that of their partners, children, and communities, as well as protecting the California taxpayer from the cost of HIV and hepatitis C infections.

Now all we need are free rolling papers.
