Traffic Crash near Interstate 680 Left One Fatality

WALNUT CREEK, CA (April 5, 2023) – Sunday morning, a two-vehicle crash on Treat Boulevard claimed the life of one person.

The fatal collision happened around 5:35 a.m. between Treat Boulevard and Alderwood Road near Interstate 680.

Based on the preliminary investigation, a driver of a Nissan van facing westbound on Alderwood stopped for an unknown reason.

Afterward, the driver exited the Nissan and stood behind the vehicle. Simultaneously, a Honda Accord traveling west of Treat Boulevard approached the stopped Nissan and lost control.

As a result, the Honda driver hit the Nissan, and the driver of the van ended up on the rear of the vehicle.

Unfortunately, responding emergency personnel declared the Nissan driver dead at the scene. However, their identity has not been released to the public, pending notification from the next of kin.

Paramedics transported the Honda driver to a hospital for treatment of major injuries.

Moreover, both directions of the roadway were temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
