Wrong-Way Collision on Interstate 5 Left 1 Person Dead, Another Injured

BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 23, 2021)  – One unidentified driver died tragically Wednesday in a wrong-way collision on Interstate 5.

The accident happened November 17, around 3:20 p.m. along Interstate 5, north of Highway 46.

According to the CHP, a Hyundai driving in the wrong direction, collided head on with a Ford vehicle traveling southbound.

Officers responding located the Hyundai driver dead at the scene. Meanwhile, medics found the Ford driver with major injuries.

At this time, officials have not released the current condition of the Ford driver.

Moreover, CHP withheld the name of the fatal victim till their family is notified.

Authorities did not considered drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the accident but an investigation is currently underway.
