1 Pronounced Dead after Fatal Auto Collision near Tavern Road

ALPINE, CA (November 19, 2021) – A solo car crash on Kumeyaay Highway left one person dead Saturday night.

The incident happened around 8:51 p.m., on the westbound lanes of the freeway near Tavern Road. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after.

According to reports, a vehicle struck the center divider then over-corrected. As a result, the vehicle veered back across and off the roadway.

Due to the impact of the collision, authorities declared the one occupant dead at the scene.

At this time, the CHP are investigating the reason behind the car crash on Kumeyaay Highway.
