89-Year Old Dies in Traffic Accident on Avenue 7 1/2

MADERA, CA (April 11, 2022) – Early Monday evening, an 89-year old driver died in a head-on crash on Firebaugh Boulevard, police said.

The auto collision happened just after 7:00 p.m., west of Firebaugh Boulevard.

Officers say the 89-year-old man was driving a truck west on Avenue 7 1/2 when he drifted into the opposite lane. Consequently, a woman in an oncoming Toyota Venza swerved to avoid the truck.

Eventually, her vehicle spun off the road. Shortly after, the man’s truck collided with an eastbound Toyota Sequoia.

Paramedics arrived and pronounced the 89-year-old man dead at the scene, due to the extent of his condition. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity.

Meanwhile, the man in the Toyota Sequoia suffered minor injuries. Medics transported him to Madera hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the woman in the Toyota Venza sustained no injuries.

California Highway Patrol officers are still currently investigating the crash. They say drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors.
