Man Dies after Fiery Single-Car Collision near Shields Street

SAN DIEGO, CA (February 27, 2023) – Early Wednesday morning, a solo-vehicle fiery crash on Santo Road claimed the life of a man.

The incident happened on January 25th, at around 4:30 a.m., at the 4300 block of Santo Road near Shields Street.

According to reports, a 2013 Mercedes-Benz collided head-on with a tree in the center median, causing the vehicle to catch fire.

Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after and extinguished the flames. They then discovered the deceased driver inside. At this time, the identity of the deceased victim remains undisclosed.

Following the collision, emergency crews closed down both directions of Santo Road, between Shields Street and Orleck Street to conduct an investigation and cleanup duties.

No further details regarding the Santo Road crash have been released to the public. San Diego Officials will provide more information once available.
