Semi-Truck Collision near 405 Freeway Results in Death

TUKWILA, WA (August 26, 2021) – A semi-truck driver was killed Monday afternoon in a fatal crash on Interstate 5 near Interstate 405.

Officer responded to the scene around 1:00 p.m., on the southbound lanes of I-5 on August 23.

Per reports, the driver of a car was merging from southbound I-405 onto southbound I-5.

As the driver was switching lanes, they collided with the semi-truck. As a result, the semi-truck swerved into a guardrail before sliding down a nearby embankment.

Responding paramedics pronounced the semi-truck driver dead on the scene due to the severity of his injuries.

Following the incident, the WSP shut down the road for nearly 8 hours during cleanup and preliminary duties.

At this time, an active investigation to determine further details remains ongoing.
