One Pronounced Dead after High-Speed Collision near Hollywood Way

BURBANK, CA (May 28, 2024) – One person was killed and another sustained injuries late Saturday night, in a 2-car accident on Vanowen Street.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:15 p.m., just west of Hollywood Way.

Officers reported that a white Toyota Corolla heading east collided with a white Scion. According to authorities, both vehicles were speeding before the collision. The force of the crash propelled both cars into an electrical pole and a fire hydrant, ejecting the Scion’s driver onto the roadway.

The driver sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. The deceased victim’s identity has not been disclosed by the police.

Responding paramedics treated the driver of the Corolla at the scene for moderate injuries.

Currently, traffic investigators are assessing whether intoxication was a factor in the incident. Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash on Vanowen Street to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
