Injuries Reported after Oil Tanker Collision on Orcutt Garey Road in Santa Maria

SANTA MARIA, CA (October 15, 2021) – Monday morning, a driver was hospitalized after a fiery rollover crash on Dominion Road.

It occurred at the intersection of Dominion Road and Orcutt Garey Road in the Sisquoc neighborhood. Dispatchers arrived to the scene shortly after 4:30 a.m.

According to police, two vehicles were involved. Reports indicate that a tanker truck was found rolled over in a ditch. However, the events leading up to the crash remain unclear.

When firemen arrived on the site, the truck’s cab was engulfed in flames. The fire had spread to a neighboring grove of eucalyptus trees, burning roughly 1/4 of an acre.

Eventually, the cab fire was put out and officers say the flames did not spread to the truck’s tank. Approximately, half a gallon of oil leaked from the trailer, which was carrying 6,000 gallons at the time.

As per reports, the truck driver remained unharmed. However, the second car’s driver sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

There has been no further information released about the rollover crash on Dominion Road at this time.
