One Pronounced Dead after Train Collision on Orange Street

SHAFTER, CA (May 25, 2022) – Friday afternoon, one driver was fatally struck by a train in a deadly accident on Santa Fe Way.

Police responded to the scene just after 2:00 p.m., between Orange and Burbank Street. For reasons unknown, a train struck a pickup-truck in the area.

An Amtrak spokesperson said the passenger train was traveling southbound from Oakland to Bakersfield and carrying 137 people onboard.

The pickup-truck burst into flames as it was dragged along the tracks several hundred feet before coming to a stop. The crash resulted in the death of one fatality, and three injuries.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved. However, an active investigation into the train accident on Santa Fe Way remains ongoing.
