Maybe the folks at Guisados should get out the blue dye number whatever more often. In honor of opening day at nearby Dodger Stadium, the jar of horchata at Guisados taqueria in Boyle Heights was a lovely shade of Dodger blue last night. It was only for the evening, a walk-off win if you will, but with new team ownership making everybody far happier than usual about baseball in this town — and with Andre Ethier driving in the game's winning run, a home run, on his birthday no less — maybe the contents of the jar will find itself this shade more often.

Blue or not, the horchata at Guisados is just the thing to pair with a plate of cochinita pibil tacos, particularly when ordered at the nicely incendiary 10+ heat level. If you're batting for the cycle — OK, maybe not one of every taco available, but pretty damn close — maybe Armando De La Torre will bring over an extra cup of the habanero sauce, as he did to our table last night. Or you can just drink your Dodgerata — yes, it's actually called that — with a plate of tamales, with or without habanero sauce. Sometimes all roads do lead to the same place, whether Vin Scully is calling the plays or not.
