Hemp Tahini Dressing Recipe

Who doesn’t love a tasty dressing that is versatile enough to do more than dress up some greens? You guessed it – everyone! Our take on tahini combines a traditional recipe with a special, heart-healthy ingredient, hemp hearts. Read on for your new favorite dressing, dip and beyond recipe!

Tahini has become popular in the United States over the last few decades as a healthy and flavorful option added to a variety of dishes. It is most commonly used as a dressing or dip, but the possibilities are endless with flavors like these. Tahini originated in the Eastern Mediterranean and is typically made of toasted ground sesame seeds made into a paste. Tahini is rich in antioxidants and healthy fats. Similarly, hemp hearts are a great addition to a traditional Tahini, as they are also heart-healthy and are rich in vitamins, amino acids and healthy fats. Combined with the delicious spices and acidity of the lemon juice, this is a healthy recipe made it flavor heaven.

Because of the high amounts of healthy fats in this recipe, it is a great carrier for adding CBD oil too. Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of hemp hearts, soaked in water for 4 hours, 1 inch from the top
  • 2 tablespoons tahini paste
  • 1 tablespoon agave
  • 1 tablespoon hemp oil
  • ¼ cup of extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • ⅛ teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced

Preparation

  1. Strain the hemp hearts and rinse under cold water. In a blender, combine all of the ingredients and blend until smooth and creamy.
  2. Store in a mason jar or airtight container and use it as a dip for vegetables, grilled meats, and as a dressing for salads.

Tips

  • Soaking the hemp hearts under water is really important for a creamy finished product
  • Some tahini pastes are thicker than others. Thin out the dressing with a little more room temperature water until the desired viscosity is reached.
  • Great with: kabobs, falafels, salad greens, a dip accompanied with vegetables and crackers, and more!
