The road to sobriety is long, arduous, and full of setbacks. No wonder Dr. Dre's highly anticipated third album, Detox, is ten years into the process, and has yet to come clean.

But naysayers who'd given up on Detox as an empty promise can stop shaking their heads: What's supposedly the first single was leaked yesterday, and Dr. Dre called in to Power 106's “Big Boy's Neighborhood” this morning to discuss its “unfortunate” early release.

Claiming to need a couple more songs, he said the album should be ready by the end of January, though he sounded a little nervous about fans' “anticipointment.” He kept mostly mum on the guest appearances, but did mention South Central's Slim da Mobster, and also said he can't wait to work with one of our favorite local rappers, the Compton non-smoker, Kendrick Lamar.

Dre protests that “Kush” is the only song on the album “with that type of content,” but of course he'd enlist the old crowd and fall back into old habits for at least one single about the stuff that made his sound famous. Featuring Snoop Dogg and Akon, “Kush” covers Cali's finests' favorite topic, smoking Cali's finest, with a little crack on Will.I.Am mixed in to modernize the track.

Vocally, Dre and Snoop both sound in great shape. We're a little torn on the beat, but figure Power 106 will force-feed it to us so often, we'll like it in a week. You?
