IHeartComix’s Check Yo Ponytail night brought out trendy tresses en masse when it was at Safari Sam’s, and its move to the Echoplex (the Echo’s bigger basement space) has been no less thick with the cool kicks and the hair-flaired. The long-running Hang the DJs dance party at the Echo is always a feel-good affair, with bands and DJs bent on doing just one thing: making ya shake your ass off. So when the two indie-dance-music powerhouses join forces this Saturday, expect the sparks to fly on both levels of the Echo. And if the clubs’ usual music-meisters (CYP’s host Franki Chan and HTDJs birthday girl Scarlett Casanova, plus local faves Paparazzi, Maurice de la Falaise, etc.) ain’t enough, there’s a slew o’ special stuff too: live performances by Kentucky Fried freaksters VHS or Beta, Chi-town popster Walter Meego, Massachusetts mashers Protokoll and funked-up Frenchy Para One, plus neat ’n’ nasty beats from the Institubes, Orgasmic, Surkin and more. Rest up for this one. The Echo and the Echoplex, 1154 Glendale Blvd., Echo Park; Sat., Sept. 15, 9 p.m.; over 18; $15 advance, $17 door. Tickets at ticketweb.com and Turntable Lab.
