They're the Oscar-winning duo who wrote many of the songs you heard during your childhood, including “A Spoonful of Sugar” from Mary Poppins, the score to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and “It's a Small World (After All)” from Disneyland. They're the Sherman brothers — Robert B. and Richard M. — and they were the subject of last year's acclaimed documentary The Boys: The Sherman Brothers' Story. As a fund-raiser for next spring's Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival, the movie will be screening tonight. The filmmakers, and Richard Sherman himself, will be on hand for a Q&A afterward. I plan to ask Mr. Sherman whether “a spoonful of sugar” actually refers to cocaine. Feel free to ask your own stupid questions.
