94-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Deadly Collision on Scottsdale Road

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (August 1, 2022) – Sunday morning, Donald Detzler was pronounced dead following a fatal collision on McDowell Road.

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m., near the intersection of Scottsdale and McDowell Road.

According to reports, Detzler attempted to turn left near Paul’s Ace Hardware when another vehicle struck him. Following the initial impact, the driver also struck a USPS vehicle, although the USPS driver remained uninjured.

Emergency crews arrived and rushed 94-year-old Detzler rushed to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Medics also transported the other driver to a hospital for precaution.

Authorities closed the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened.

No further information was provided but reports will be released once available.
