Because the Labrador and shepherd mixes were held in a small space, rescuers say, they ended up fighting each other to the point of injury and scarring.
The rescue went down ….
… yesterday in Palm Springs' Gateway Estates neighborhood, according to the nonprofit group Animal Rescue Corps.
A spokesman told the Weekly:
The combined effort of Animal Rescue Corps, a nonprofit specializing in large-scale, complex rescues, the Palm Springs Police Department, Animal Control, and Animal Shelter secured the release of the dogs from unsafe and unsanitary conditions where they were fighting and injuring each other.
Rescue Corps officials say the dogs were “surrendered” to its volunteers, taken to Palm Springs Animal Shelter, and subjected to veterinary check-ups. They could be available for adoption in about a month.

These dogs were removed from this situation to avoid further serious injuries and continued suffering. This is a considerable case for a city whose shelter is already at near capacity with homeless animals and Animal Rescue Corps did not hesitate to answer the call for assistance for the sake of our partners and these dogs.
