An online charity auction of Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez's 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 will begin on Friday. Proceeds from the auction will benefit ThinkCure!, which funds research to cure cancer and Maryvale, a Rosemead resident placement home for girls.

ThinkCure!, a non-profit community group established by the Dodgers, has raised more than $3 million for research to cure cancer since its start in 2007. Maryvale opened 154 years ago as the Los Angeles Orphan Asylum, caring for the growing number of orphans in the community.

Ramirez's Porsche was recently appraised for more than $58,000. According to reports, Porsche built fewer than 1,500 Porsche 911s with the 3.6 litre turbocharged engines, making the red car with grey leather interior one of the most rarest Porsches in history.

According to Josh Rawitch, the Dodgers vice president of communications, Ramirez's Porsche has 34,569 miles on the odometer.

The auction will take place from 11 a.m. Friday through 11 a.m. Monday at www.thinkcure.org/manny.
