An immigrants' rights group plans to hold a rally and press conference Wednesday to urge the Los Angeles Dodgers to denounce Arizona's controversial undocumented-migrant law when the Arizona Diamondbacks visit Chavez Ravine May 31.

The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles plans the event for noon at Sunset Boulevard and Elysian Park Avenue. Planned posters and banners will state “Immigrant Town,” “We Don't Welcome Arizona,” “We Don't Welcome the Diamond Backs,” “We Are All Arizona” and “We Don't Play with Hate,” according to CHIRLA.

“Fans and immigrant advocates are requesting a meeting with the Dodgers and a public statement repudiating Arizona's divisive, anti-immigrant, and anti-business law,” reads a CHIRLA statement.

The law, which prompted boycotts of Arizona by Los Angeles and other cities, encourages police to check the immigration status of suspected undocumented people they stop, detain and arrest.
