Dodger Stadium workers represented by the Unite Here Local 11 union will not strike during the upcoming Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star game in Los Angeles.

The union said that it had continued negotiations with Compass Group who are contracted to provide food through Levy Restaurants, and in turn have agreed to pull back its plans to strike.

“UNITE HERE Local 11 and Compass/Levy at Dodger Stadium have made substantial progress in our contract negotiations this week,” the union said Friday. “On this basis, Local 11 has agreed not to strike during the All Star Game and related events. Both parties look forward to a successful All Star Game and continued negotiations.”

Before the Friday announcement, Unite Here said it had polled its workers and received a 99% vote in favor of a strike during the MLB midseason exhibition, which is scheduled to hold events at Dodger Stadium through the weekend and into Tuesday’s All-Star game.

Unite Here Local 11 said it is negotiating a “fair” union contract for the Dodger Stadium workers and were ready to call a strike at “any time” after it had taken its vote.

The union also represented Los Angeles hotel workers in urging the city council to pass an ordinance that would aid in raising wages and safety for hotel employees. The ordinance was signed by Mayor Eric Garcetti on July 7.

Under Compass Group, Levy Restaurants employs nearly 1,500 workers at Dodger Stadium, working in concession stands, suites, in-stadium restaurants and mobile food vendors.
