He helped develop Dodger Stadium, and it was one of Major League Baseball's premier venues when it opened in 1962. It still is. But, over the years, the American sports scene has changed a lot more than Chavez Ravine has. And now — gasp — for the first time ever … soccer is coming to Dodger Stadium:
You heard it right.
Major League Soccer — oh hell, let's just call it futbol so its true L.A. fans will understand it — will come to Dodger Stadum this summer when the L.A. Galaxy participate in an International Champions Cup doubleheader bill that will include Spain's Real Madrid club as well as Premier League's Everton and Italian Serie A champions Juventus.
The exact matchups haven't been decided yet because the Champions Cup will be ongoing. Explains the Galaxy in a statement:
Real Madrid will play in the first game of the Aug. 3 Dodger Stadium doubleheader against either Everton or Juventus at 5 p.m. while the Galaxy will play in the second game of the night, which is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Sure, it'll be a global happening. But let's just say Dodger Stadium won't feel this Mexican since Fernandomania.
