Dodger Stadium has once against opened its free COVID-19 test site where Angelenos can receive results within 48 hours.

The Dodgers’ home stadium again collaborated with San Dimas-based healthcare startup, Curative, and will be taking appointments for self-administered COVID-19 tests.

The shallow nasal PCR tests are a change from its previous oral tests that Angelenos took in the comfort of their own cars.

The stadium test site had closed in May when the L.A. County COVID-19 numbers began to decrease, but have reopened as the winter months come with expectations of a surge in positive cases.

More than 1 million COVID-19 tests were administered between May of 2020 and May of 2021, while the stadium parking lot was vacant due to COVID-19 restrictions keeping audiences from watching games in person.

Dodger Stadium also served as a mass vaccination site at the beginning of January, administering more than 420,000 doses before it also closed in May.

The testing site’s reopening comes as the holidays approach and L.A. Public Health cautions that the colder months may bring another COVID-19 surge, as they did in 2020.

“We do acknowledge the risk that comes with cooler weather and indoor gatherings and perhaps some waning of vaccine effectiveness,” L.A. Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said during a COVID-19 update Friday. “Getting vaccinated, getting your boosters and masking up indoors and in crowded outdoor spaces remains critical as we confront the real possibility of a winter surge.”

The Dodger Stadium testing site will be open 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with hundreds of openings per day.

Appointments for the Dodger Stadium test site, as well as its other testing sites, can be made on Curative.com.
