You shopaholics might be interested in this. A message popped into my inbox yesterday about an alternative way to shop called a “swap boutique.” The place is called Give & Take. The system is basically a trade system. You bring in designer (or semi-designer) clothes, shoes, accessories you don't want and trade for stuff other girls don't want (the idea being that one woman's trash is another's treasure, etc.).

If you bring in, say, a pair of $100 skinny jeans, you get 100 points to spend on something else. Or, you can do a “one-for-one” swap (one H&M dress for one Old Navy dress). It's a bit like selling your clothes at thrift shops and taking the store credit. The catch is that you have to pay a $25 monthly membership fee for unlimited swapping. If that doesn't faze you, hell, drop off your entire wardrobe and exchange it for a whole new one.

I haven't yet had a chance to see this place in person, but in theory it sounds like a great concept.

And you know what would make it even better? If you could trade in your $100 skinny jeans for a hundred cupcakes.
