0 1 1You don’t have to have kids to know and love Spongebob Squarepants. The awkward angular sea creature and his Bikini Bottom friends have been a long-running cartoon staple thanks to vibrant animation and silly, often layered-with-subtext storylines. But mostly it’s due to the main character’s amiable appeal. Mr. Krabs, Patrick Star, Squidward and the gang are all a hoot, but it’s Spongebob’s mixture of innocence, humor and relentless zest for life that we can all be inspired by.

This weekend, fans get to soak up all things Spongebob at the Rose Bowl with the Under the Sea Road Trip Adventure & Drive-Through Experience, featuring an in-car “underwater journey” through multiple themed environments, complete with digital interactions and photo ops. A double-feature screening follows with the feature-length film, The Spongebob Movie: Sponge On The Run (the first SB movie using full CG animation and with stars including Awkwafina, Reggie Watts, Snoop Dog and Keanu Reeves), plus an episode of Kamp Koral: Spongebob’s Under Years, a brand new show focused on the wacky yellow guy’s childhood years.

Multiple screenings will take place Sat.-Sun., Feb. 27-28 at the Rose Bowl 1001 Rose Bowl Drive, Pasadena. Tickets available here. All proceeds will benefit Heal The Bay.

If you miss the in-person events, Sponge on the Run and Kamp Koral will  also be available on Paramount’s brand new streaming network Parmount+ and Paramount’s Premium Video-On-Demand (PVOD), both beginning Thurs., March 4, the day the service launches.
