Vladimir Petrovich Demikhov, the Soviet scientist who pioneered the technique of transplanting the head of one dog onto the body of another in the 1950s, may well have been flummoxed and disturbed by the L.A. comedy troupe known as 2 Headed Dog, which for the better part of two decades has upended conventional wisdom about “comedy” and “laughter” with its bold blend of sketch comedy and really nifty eyewear. Tonight's 2 Headed Dog 200th Anniversary All-American Collector's Edition finds the chortlesome quartet — founders Mark Fite and Jim Turner, teaming up with latter-day cohorts Craig Anton and Dave “The Gruber” Allen — plying their trade in vaudeville and psychodrama, a faintly discomfiting meditation on the fringes of the American experience, from clowns to Vegas to Americana and the burlesque of the human condition. Trepany House (at the Steve Allen Theater), 4773 Hollywood Blvd., Hlywd.; Sun., July 7, 8 p.m.; $10. (818) 726-9218, trepanyhouse.org.
