The many series in the Law & Order franchise might be among the last inspirations you'd immediately think of for a pop-culture art exhibit. Long-running, by-the-book procedurals don't usually generate the kind of obsessive geek-love that translates to immortalization in paint and canvas. Still, These Are Their Stories comes to the gallery at Meltdown Comics this week, and we'll be damned if it doesn't sound brilliant. The clever conceit of the show is that each artist has taken a single-line description of one of the L&O episodes from the DIRECTV programming guide and translated it in their own unique way. A prime example of the results: “McCoy Attempts to Convict Two Bounty Hunters” sees artist Scott C. depicting Sam Waterston in court cross-examining Dog the Bounty Hunter and that lizard-y guy who played third-fiddle to Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back. It only gets odder and more awesome from there.
