Disney has announced plans to reopen both its Disneyland Resort and Disney California Adventure parks July 17, after closing their gates in mid-March.

Along with the park openings, Downtown Disney would be open on July 9, while the two California hotels will be back in business July 23.

The plans are still pending local and state approval, but Disneyland has laid out how it would promote physical distancing guidelines and limit capacity through a reservation system. Through the reservation system, all guests — including annual pass holders — would be given an entry time in advance. The park would also temporarily pause both new ticket and Annual Passport sales.

The parks would modify their cleaning and sanitation practices to comply with the state’s safety measures. A “Guest Experience Team” would also be on site to help guests with any questions they may have on the parks’ health guidelines.

Not all of the park’s main attractions would be open, however; nighttime shows and character meet-and-greets, for example, would be temporarily suspended to avoid crowding.

The reopening day itself will be significant to Disneyland —  the park first opened on July 17, 1955, which would make the reopening part of its 65th anniversary.

More information on safety measures and park regulations are expected to come as the planned opening date nears.
