As we approach the Orange Tier and the slow recovery of local businesses, Dine Out Long Beach, Restaurant and Cocktail Week starts this Thursday, April 1. At the 6th annual dining and drinking event, restaurants will be offering “Imaginary Breadsticks” (or other similar virtual items) for $3 to help support the hospitality community. The Crooked Duck will offer imaginary duck soup, while Salud, a vegan restaurant and juice bar, will have imaginary bananas on the menu.

The event has partnered with Restaurants Care, which is the non-profit foundation of the California Restaurant Association, which provides financial relief for California restaurant owners and workers facing crises.  By adding the “imaginary” item to any order, 100% of the $3 will go to Restaurants Care. Long Beach restaurants who have benefited from Restaurants Care include The Reef, Rasselbock Beer Garden, Tokyo Wako, Coffee Parlor, Panxa Cocina, SusieCakes, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Ola Mexican Kitchen, Black Angus and Jade on the Water.

With about 60 restaurants participating with meal deals, highlights include Dine Out Long Beach Beer Gardens in which sponsor Stella Artois will be creating beer gardens at select restaurants.  And you might just run into Social Distortion drummer and Pike Bar owner Chris Reece at the stick on Retro Row.

Several women-owned restaurants participating include District Wine, EJ’s Pub, Ammatoli, Bite Mi, Haewah Dal, Heritage Sandwich Shop, Long Beach Tap House, Spicy Sugar, The Crooked Duck and Vino e Cucina.

Dine and Duffy (with your dog) is back as well. Grab take-out and social distance on the waterfront with London Boat Rentals, with a cruise through Alamitos Bay and the Naples Canals.

Here’s the complete list of participating restaurants by Long Beach neighborhoods.
