Driver Hospitalized after Hit-and-Run Crash near Benton Drive involving Dillon Carmelo

REDDING, CA (October 5, 2022) – Friday afternoon, a hit-and-run on North Market Street left police searching for Dillon Carmelo.

The incident happened around 1:11 p.m. along North Market Street at Benton Drive.

According to reports, a 2016 Nissan sedan and a 2017 Chevrolet pickup truck crashed at the intersection. The impact of the collision left the driver of the Nissan with serious injuries. Meanwhile, Dillon Carmelo fled the scene of the accident without rendering aid to the victim.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and took the victim to Mercy Medical Center via ambulance for treatment of their injuries.

At this time, police are still searching for the hit-and-run driver, Dillon Carmelo, 51, of Redding. Anyone who has information about his whereabouts is urged to call Redding Police at (530) 225-4200.
