Talk about L.A.-bashing being a cottage industry! Loved how the Guardian UK began a description of renovated cottages in Venice:

“Once a bundle of crack houses frequented by the un-great and no-good of Los Angeles back in the 80s . . .”

Reminds us of the great Paul Newman line to Lauren Bacall in Harper, the movie version of Ross MacDonald's The Moving Target:

“Your husband keeps lousy company, Mrs. Sampson, as bad as there is in LA. And that's as bad as there is.”

If you're in the market to spend time (and $250 a night) at an “eco-cottage” and don't mind the fact that L.A.'s un-greats and no-goods of Los Angeles once got their mail there, see Venice Beach Eco-Cottages.
