The legalization of CBD has stirred a lot of conversations around cannabinoids, hemp, and marijuana. Now you can get a large number of products made from CBD and hemp directly from the market. You can also find products derived from marijuana. Therefore, it is important for you to know about the difference between these products to choose the best option for you.

Marijuana

The marijuana/cannabis plant carries a lot of health benefits. However, it is known for the intoxicating effects it creates rather than the health benefits. The presence of a plant chemical called THC creates a lot of adverse effects if you consume products made from this plant. THC is responsible for the impairment, euphoric effects, and addiction caused by the marijuana plant. Even though THC carries a lot of health benefits, the negative effects created by this compound make it not suitable for a lot of people.

In addition to THC, there is a wide range of other similar compounds present in this plant, which are together called cannabinoids. CBD is also a cannabinoid present in this plant. However, it does not have the adverse effects created by THC. But it also carries a lot of health benefits similar to THC. Hence, CBD is being recognized as a safe alternative for THC.

Apart from CBD and THC, the marijuana plant also contains a lot of other beneficial cannabinoids including CBN, CBG, CBC, etc. Other important compounds present in this plant are flavonoids, terpenes, and more.

Hemp

Hemp is the safer version of marijuana, as it can offer the health benefits offered by marijuana without creating adverse effects. Products derived from hemp plants are easily available, as they are legal. However, products derived from marijuana are still illegal because of the impairment and intoxicating effects they create.

Hemp also contains the same cannabinoids and other phytochemicals present in the marijuana plant including CBD and THC. However, the concentration of THC is very minute in this plant in comparison with marijuana. But it carries a high amount of CBD, hence, the CBD products available in the market are mostly derived from this plant.

CBD

CBD is one of the beneficial cannabinoids present in marijuana and hemp plants. It can offer a wide range of health benefits. A lot of people take CBD for health conditions such as seizures, pain, inflammation, sleep disorders, etc. Additionally, by using CBD for mental health, you can control conditions including anxiety disorders, depression, stress, PTSD, etc.

So when getting products made from CBD, hemp, or marijuana, make sure that you are aware of their differences.
