One week ago German supermodel Hana Nitsche, girlfriend of multimillionaire hip-hop legend Russell Simmons, tweeted that she lost her chihuahua Ivy in the West Hollywood area.

Then the duo offered $5,000 for the dog's return. Turns out a landscaper who worked in nearby Beverly Hills found the dog wandering along Doheny Drive.

But when Nitsche came to retrieve the pooch, there was no reward money offered:

That, at least, is according to CBS Los Angeles, which tracked down the landscaper's family in Palmdale.

The man's daughter told the station that after a reward flier was seen in the area family members phoned Nitsche and offered to bring the pup back to the West Hollywood-Beverly Hills area.

Nitsche had also put up ads on Craigslist offering the reward for the safe return of her dog. (The ads have since come down.)

The landscaper's daughter Janet Carranza told CBS2:

I was telling her [Nitsche], basically, that her dog was here, that we had her, that she was safe, we were feeding her, you know, everything that was going on, that everything was good. And she said 'Thank you, God bless you, thank you for saving my dog.'

Instead, however, the family was met by muscle affiliated with the Body Guard Group of Beverly Hills, which apparently volunteered to retrieve the chihuahua.

The big guys showed up at the family's door, according to the station, and didn't show much appreciation.

Nitsche's people told the station the dog had a tag and number to call in case the pup was found. Carranza said the body guards accused the family of stealing the dog and holding it hostage for three days.

She's saying we stole her dog. I don't know how, but we were just trying to be good people.
