The Enterprise Report claims that the Los Angeles Police Department is close to nabbing the officer or officers suspected of providing a police photo of the battered singer Rihanna to the gossip website TMZ.com.

According to the online blogsite, two officers have been “assigned to home” – in other words, they have been suspended during the investigation –  and had their lockers and homes searched by internal-affairs detectives.

“One of the two officers – who are both women – is thought to have completed the photo transaction, the sources said; the other officer is the roommate of the primary suspect,” according to the Enterprise Report, which says they received their information from police and other law enforcement sources.

The photo of a badly beaten Rihanna taken by the police appeared on TMZ's website after R & B singer Chris Brown was arrested for attacking her last February. Selling a police photo is a departmental violation and the officers – if found culpable – could be criminally charged for identifying the victim of a domestic violence case.

At least one of the officers apparently worked LAPD's Wilshire

Division, the jurisdiction where the Hancock Park attack occurred.

Brown was sentenced in August to five years' probation, six months

of community labor and a year of domestic violence counseling, and he

must stay away from his former girlfriend for the next five years.
