23-Year-Old Rider Fatally Struck in Car Accident near Tower Line Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 2, 2021) – Sunday afternoon, Devyn Marroquin-Ruano was killed in a deadly motorcycle accident on State Route 223.

The crash took place around 1:15 p.m., on June 27. Dispatchers arrived at the intersection of State Route 223 and Tower Line Road shortly after.

According to CHP, a motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Tower Line Road when the rider failed to yield at a stop sign. As a result, they collided with an SUV heading eastbound on Highway 243.

The rider was thrown off the bike due to the impact of the collision. Despite life-saving efforts, Devyn was later pronounced dead on scene.

Meanwhile, medics transported the driver of the SUV with minor injuries to a nearby hospital for further treatment. However, their identity has not been released.

As a result of the crash, officers were forced to close Highway 223 for cleanup and investigation. But, the roadway has since reopened.
