15-Year-Old Boy Killed in Deadly Accident on Lake Mead Boulevard

LAS VEGAS, NV (September 17, 2021) – Thursday morning, a 15-year-old boy was fatally struck by Derek Herman on Walnut Road.

The fatal incident occurred shortly after 7:00 a.m., near East Lake Mead Boulevard. Officers arrived to the scene shortly after.

According to reports, three vehicles were involved in the collision. However, the events leading up remain unclear.

Investigators say a 15-year-old boy who was a passenger inside a Toyota Corolla died at the scene.

In addition, 52-year-old Derek Herman was driving a box truck and was charged with DUI and failing to stop at a red light.

The surrounding area on Walnut Road was closed for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Although, the road has since reopened.

At this time, no further information has been released.
