Man Arrested after DUI Rear-End Crash near Palmdale Boulevard

PALMDALE, CA (March 1, 2023) – Early Monday, a man was arrested after a hit-and-run crash on Sixth Street East left an officer hospitalized. The incident happened on February 20th, at around 12:27 a.m., near Palmdale Boulevard. According to reports, a patrol SUV was driving through the area when it was rear-ended by another vehicle. The driver immediately fled the scene on foot but deputies were able to catch and detain him a short distance away. The impact of the crash left significant damage to the suspect’s vehicle and the patrol SUV. Paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after and transported the deputy to a local hospital for further examination. Paramedics also transported the suspected driver to the hospital. Later, officials determined that the involved driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Footage from the scene showed the suspect’s vehicle deployed airbags and the bumper and tailgate of the patrol vehicle received damage upon impact.
