Traffic Collision on State Street Left One Rider Dead

HEMET, CA (July 21, 2022) – A motorcycle accident on Menlo Avenue claimed the life of 51-year-old Dennis Shakelford Monday evening.

According to the authorities, the incident happened around 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of Menlo Avenue and State Street.

Furthermore, Hemet Officials said Shakelford was stopped at a red light on Menlo Avenue while traveling southbound on State Street.

However, a Hyundai sedan was also going southbound and rear-ended the motorcyclist after the light turned green at the intersection.

Eventually, first responders arrived and declared Shakelford dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the Hyundai driver sustained minor injuries but was not hospitalized.

Moreover, both directions of the roadway were temporarily closed to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties, but have since reopened.

Hemet officials continue to investigate the motorcycle accident along Menlo Avenue at this time.
