43-Year-Old Man Injured in Pedestrian Crash on Childs Avenue

MERCED, CA (March 25, 2022) – Sunday evening, Deborah Boatner was identified as the driver involved in a pedestrian crash on Highway 99.

According to authorities, the crash happened around 10:00 p.m., on the southbound lanes of the highway near the Childs Avenue off-ramp.

Investigators said 34-year-old Boatner was driving a 2006 Chevy Malibu and struck a 43-year-old man walking across the off-ramp.

Meanwhile, 36-year-old Karem Aldafari of Chowchilla driving behind Boatner with a 2001 Toyota Venza and swerved left to avoid hitting the Malibu. As a result, the Toyota Venza rolled down the embankment.

Eventually, paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the male pedestrian to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries.

Authorities said Boatner and Aldafari remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. At this time, Merced Officials continued to investigate the pedestrian crash.
