The death of Robert Fuller has been ruled a suicide by the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department. The Fuller family was said to be out of state and not present for the announcement of the investigation results.

Robert Fuller was found dead near Palmdale City Hall on June 10 and while officials ruled it a suicide, community outcry led a deeper investigation.

The L.A. County Sheriff’s homicide division said that the rope was only accessible from the tree and he was not “hoisted into that position.”

Fuller attire was said to be neat and clean, and “there were no signs of a struggle, no defensive wounds observed and no other signs of trauma visible to Mr. Fuller,” according to Commander Chris Marks of the homicide bureau.

Investigators also said they found scars on Fuller’s left wrist “consistent with suicidal intent.”

The investigation also found that a red rope similar to the one found on scene was purchased from a local Dollar Tree store, using an EBT card under Fuller’s name. That purchase was made on May 14, and while the Dollar Tree no longer had footage from that day, there was video of Fuller making purchases with the card afterward, indicating that the card was still in his possession.

Investigators also found instances where Fuller was admitted to hospitals In Arizona, California and Nevada for having hallucinations with voices telling him to kill himself. In the Nevada hospital he was treated for depression and “suicidal ideation.”
