1 Killed and 1 Injured after Hit-and-Run Crash on Pacific Coast Highway

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (July 28, 2021) – 48-year-old Deanna Stuve died tragically after a hit-and-run accident on Pacific Coast Highway.

The crash happened around 8:00 p.m. July 26, on northbound Pacific Coast Highway near Newland Avenue.

According to authorities, Chillandra Bell, 26, of Victorville, was driving northbound on Pacific Coast Highway when she hit Deanna and her husband, Frederick Stuve, 50. They had the right of way in the crosswalk during the crash.

Responding officers arrived and pronounced Deanna dead at the scene.  Meanwhile, paramedics transported Frederick to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

As per preliminary investigations, Bell attempted to flee the scene, but police were able to track her down and apprehend her on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and hit-and-run resulting in death or injury, thanks to eyewitnesses.

At this time, it is unknown whether speed, drugs, or alcohol played a role in the crash. However, an active investigation is underway.
