A new website, DealPop Los Angeles, will feature daily deals offering savings of up to 70 percent off at restaurants, bars and other businesses in the L.A. area. The site kicks off September 8 with deals from Seventeenth Street Café and Bakery in Santa Monica ($7 for $15 worth of baked goods), LA Connection Comedy in Sherman Oaks ($10 for $24 worth of theatre tickets) and Yogis Anonymous in Santa Monica ($7 for a $14 yoga class). Friday's deal (September 10th) is $5 for an $11 burger at Umami Burger–valid only at the Fred Segal location. DealPop is a subsidiary of WhitePages.

The website is similar to group buying coupon sites like GroupOn and Living Social, except with DealPop there isn't a minimum number of people who need to make a purchase before the deal goes through. The site also has a point system that allows members to earn points on future purchases when they share a deal with someone via Facebook, Twitter and/or email who then signs up and purchases that deal.

“We're excited to launch with some great deals in L.A. and look forward to helping people discover new places,” Kevin Nakao, chief operating officer at WhitePages, said in a press release.

As a WhitePages subsidiary, DealPop analyzes more than 100 million local and business searches conducted monthly by 20 million people per month at WhitePages.com and 411.com to determine the most popular places. The company will promote each deal on their website, through a daily email to subscribers, via Twitter and Facebook and on WhitePages' website.

You can sign up for DealPop at www.dealpop.com and can visit DealPop LA's Facebook page or Twitter account to provide suggestions of where you'd like to get a deal. For the L.A. launch, DealPop is running a sweepstakes offering a free iPad to the first member to compile 1,000 DealPop points. To be considered, you must invite 20 friends who then make a purchase.
