Search warrants were served at the stores as well as at two homes connected to an investigation, said Sarah Pullen of the DEA.

But, Pullen said, “Large quantities of marijuana and marijuana products, cash and one handgun were seized.”
The locations included the following cannabis retailers, according to the DEA:
-Black Rose, 7262 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles
-Downtown Medical Caregivers, 1301 S. Main St., Suite 204.
-Washington and Western Medical Group, 1882 S. Western Ave.
-Herbman, 3808 S. Western Ave.
Two homes were also raided, Pullen said:
-A residence in the 100 block of North Hamel Drive in Los Angeles.
-A residence in the 9900 block of Anthony Place in Beverly Hills.

Although the busts went down a day after City Attorney Mike Feuer announced renewed efforts to close hundreds of collectives in town that are out of compliance with a voter-approved city law (Prop. D), it's not clear if there is a connection.

But it does seem clear that the DEA's investigation is separate from the city's own efforts to whittle down the number of pot shops to 135 or so. We asked the City Attorney's office for its take on this but had yet to hear back.
Pullen said this much:
The DEA is working with the LAPD and the Los Angeles City Attorney's office on this investigation.
