Great. Now liberals at UC Berkeley have sta-thith-tics to drop into their rants on the intolerable ignorance of middle-Americans who shop at Wal-Mart and jerk off to Sarah Palin, like they aren't guilty of the same:

A new study proves that those who watch Fox as a primary news source are far more likely to be misinformed about political issues. [It's on Page 20, you lazy lib.]

To worsen the indignant spittle show, conservative Fox-types, too, have a study of their own to wave right back at the sea of Communist faces.

An investigation into the nation's top 100 universities shows that they're almost all liberally biased — especially UC Berkeley.

We're floored, really.

The Fox factoid is being gleefully reposted all over the Internet today, by pretty much all news networks except Fox. Weird. Here's what WorldPublicOpinion.org is chuckling about. (The “points” stand for how many times we're allowed to reference each item in our obscure leftist rants for the next fiscal year, or something.)

Those who watched Fox News almost daily were significantly more likely than those who never watched it to believe that:

  • most economists estimate the stimulus caused job losses (12 points more likely)
  • most economists have estimated the health care law will worsen the deficit (31 points)
  • the economy is getting worse (26 points)
  • most scientists do not agree that climate change is occurring (30 points)
  • the stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts (14 points)
  • their own income taxes have gone up (14 points)
  • the auto bailout only occurred under Obama (13 points)
  • when TARP came up for a vote most Republicans opposed it (12 points)
  • and that it is not clear that Obama was born in the United States (31 points)

Almost more hilariously, CampusReform.org, which commits itself entirely to fighting liberal academics who brainwash the nation's college-goers, has found that — of U.S. News and World Report's top 100 universities — UC Berkeley is a No. 1 offender of “liberal political bias.” They based the study on faculty, student orgs and school policies.

Some outraged Campus Reform dude quotes himself in the press release:

“America's colleges and universities are dominated by liberals, and University of California at Berkeley is no different,” said Morton Blackwell, president of the Leadership Institute and founder of CampusReform.org. “Too often, the campus left uses its power to indoctrinate the next generation.”

Here's the data: “Of the 55 political campus groups, 42 are left-leaning and 13 are right-leaning.” Their list of left-leaners includes the ACLU and Human Rights Review. Which… we kind of hoped were for everyone.

Then there's a tirade on “left-wing courses,” including “Climate Change Mitigation, which emphasizes solutions for responding to the threat of climate change” and “Impact of Government Policies on Poor Children and Families, which measures the impact…of state intervention and public benefit programs on poor children and families.”

OK, we'll wrap up now, mostly because we're starting to feel a UC-instilled socialist rant coming on. How about just one more gem for the road (try to imagine some trust-fund baby pulling a clammy all-nighter on the research, like, oh man, this one's gonna rock the nation):

“The political leanings of university professors are similarly biased. Specifically, the school's faculty and staff gave 98% of their political donations ($149,869.00) to Democratic candidates in the 2008 presidential election.”

It's really a wonder the smartest people in America are all so “biased.” Must not be watching enough Fox News…
