Passenger Dead following Big Rig Collision in Dorris

DORRIS, CA (February 21, 2023) – Early Wednesday morning, Dawson Yang was arrested after a fatal DUI crash on Highway 97 left one person dead. The collision happened around 5:30 a.m. along Highway 97, just south of Dorris. According to reports, a pickup truck crossed the opposite lane of the highway and collided head-on with a big rig. The impact of the collision caused the passenger of the pickup to be ejected from the truck, leaving them with fatal injuries. At this time, the identity of the deceased passenger remains undisclosed. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the driver of the pickup, 52-year-old Dawson Yang, of Milwaukee, to Sky Lakes Medical Center in Klamath Falls. The big rig driver was medically clear at the scene. Following the crash, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s office cited Yang for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
